digital4home is a digital
entertainment system developed by digital4sight for use in your
home. The digital4home system comprises of three components:-
- Broadband Internet
connection
- Wireless Network
- Media Centre
Each of these components can
bring considerable benefit to you and your home
why broadband?
Broadband is
a high-speed data connection between your home/computer and the
internet.
As
information has become richer on the internet including movies,
games and large documents, a high speed connection is essential.
Broadband connections are at a minimum 5 times faster than a
dial-up connection.
Broadband
also allows your connection to the internet to always be
"connected" so you receive e-mail as soon as it arrives.
Broadband
can allow you to use the internet and make a telephone call at
the same time.
why
wireless?
A wireless
network is a computer network which uses similar technologies as
"mobiles" to transmit information over distances without the use
of wires.
A wireless
network has many advantages - it takes away the need for
expensive wiring between devices, allows you to use your
wireless-enabled notebook anywhere in your home and share a
broadband connection or a printer.
Most
importantly, in the future wireless technologies will be
incorporated into most electrical equipment including air
conditioning, lighting and kitchen appliances such as fridges.
why media
centre?
The media
centre is the "convergence" of many entertainment technologies
including
- Video
Recorder
- DVD
Player
- CD
Player
- Radio
-
Personal Computer
- Digital
Media Storage (digital photography)
A single
media centre can perform many functions at the same time such as
displaying digital photographs, playing a CD and recording a TV
program.
A media
centre includes a Personal Video Recorder which allows you to
"pause live TV" and removes the storage space for both equipment
and media (CD's and DVD's).
With a media
centre you can create slide shows of your own digital
photography for family and friends and e-mail and browse the web
from your armchair. |
